EECP is a non-invasive therapeutic approach for cardiocerebrovascular diseases. The treatment involves wrapping specially designed air cuffs around the patient's calves, thighs, and buttocks.
During diastole, the cuffs inflate sequentially from distal to proximal, propelling blood from the lower extremities and gluteal region back to the aorta. This enhances diastolic aortic pressure, improves coronary artery perfusion, and boosts blood supply to vital organs. During systole, the cuffs rapidly and simultaneously deflate, reducing cardiac afterload. The decompression of the lower limbs promotes arterial dilation, facilitating blood flow from the aorta.
